Need a little metabolism wake up this year? I know I sure am looking for nourishing ways to boost the engine. My lovely friend Reece Carter is letting us in on his little secret to his high energy workouts and ripping rig…The Matcha Warrior – you ready?

“Green tea has been linked to a whole host of benefits because of its xanthines and catechins. You don’t need to remember these funny words, all you need to know is that matcha is an amazing metabolism booster.

A pinch of cayenne warms the body up, and lemon gets digestion going for the morning. Don’t expect the ‘zing’ you would get from a store-bought alternative, but I bet you’ll find this makes you sweat like nothing else.

Up until now it’s been my little fitness secret, but I guess the secret’s out!”

You will need:

1⁄4 cup matcha green tea powder

3 teaspoons lemon juice powder

Pinch of cayenne pepper

Pinch of stevia (optional, but I prefer mine without)

How to:

Step 1 Combine all the ingredients together in a small bowl, and then store in an airtight container. Due to the organic nature of this product, it may clump in time. To avoid this happening, keep it well sealed and in a dry place.

Step 2 To use, add up to a teaspoon of the powder to a gym shaker with a few blocks of ice (it tastes best cold). Add water, and shake well.

Step 3 Now go move that body!

Note: As with any source of caffeine, caution is advised if you’re prone to high blood pressure. If in doubt, check with your doctor before using this remedy.

You can find great recipes, herbal remedies and more in naturopath Reece Carter’s latest book ‘The Garden Apothecary’
