4 days ago by brownpapernutrition VANILLA PEANUT DATE SLICE...a great intro recipe for anyone who hasn’t dabbled with wholefood treats much before as it’s simple and delicious. It’s also a winner for my pregnant and breastfeeding mums out there for a few reasons too. DATES are a wonderful source of fibre – fuelling beneficial gut bacteria, sustaining energy levels and appetite and supporting gut motility to keep you and your bowels regular. Post partum constipation is a common condition for many women which may result from the effects of pregnancy hormones, haemorrhoids, pain from episiotomy or iron supplementation (there are many non-constipating iron supplements now

  • I didnt want to share too much of our excitement
1 week ago by brownpapernutrition I didn’t want to share too much of our excitement for this little person whilst there is so much devastation in our country, but after speaking to a few friends and being reminded that with all darkness we must also have light to look forward to I thought maybe a bit of bump might be ok to share here too. Can’t wait to meet this tiny human... only about 6 weeks to go. Love.  #34weekspregnant   @svendsenfitnesshealth

5 days ago by brownpapernutrition QUINOA PEACH TOMATO SALAD to make the most of the beautiful seasonal peaches we have in Australia. Peaches contain valuable vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and my fave fibre - making them an easy means of upping your daily intake by integrating them into your diet as snacks and meals too of course! I team this salad with a piece of fresh salmon, barramundi or a juicy big handful of chickpeas or butterbeans - it's scrumptious! I've popped my recipe on the link in comments below for you. Copy and paste to cook and dive in!!! Jacq xo  #plantbased   @eimele_australia   @aussiesummerstonefruit   @countryroad

I’ve done plenty of melting today for everyone This ALMOND BROWNIE recipe is a quick variation from one I’ve got on the blog and it’s nek level... especially with cheeky chocolate care of the my lil

Winter warming recipes to keep you in good health

WORDS : Team Brown Paper

Struggling to get out of bed in the winter? Ugh, us too.

Summer poke bowls and jazzy salads not hitting the spot on a chilly winter’s night? We hear ya!

Find yourself reaching for comfort foods on those bleak rainy weekends? You bet ya!

We find when the temperature drops outside, it’s time to really turn up the heat in the kitchen and get those bodies warmed and well fed!

Check out these delicious recipes packed with antioxidants and immune boosting nutrients to ward off the winter lurgies and keep your health in check.

PORRIDGE

Winter calls for breakfasts that are warming and grounding, and porridge will tick all the right boxes there. And no…porridge isn’t just for Goldie Locks, especially not when it’s packed with spices such as cinnamon to level blood sugars throughout the day, and ginger to gently warm the body and improve circulation. Try this CARROT SPICE PORRIDGE with gentle flavours of almond milk and a good dose of fibre from oats.

And for those of you who are sick of waiting 20 mins out in the cold to get a table at your fave brunch spot, only to be hit with a $30 bill for a bowl of porridge and a coffee… then get your porridge game on at home by checking out these variations – we love the QUINOA PORRIDGE WITH CARAMELISED BANANA and the BUCKWHEAT PORRIDGE WITH CINNAMON AND VANILLA. Mmmm mmm!

SOUPS

Feeling that sore throat come on? Boyfriend caught the manflu? No better time to get this immune boosting CHICKEN SOUP into you. This recipe is comforting, gentle on the digestive system, incredibly soothing and packed with anti-inflammatory properties to fend off all the nasties.

If you’re looking for further soup-spiration and want to add some hearty winter soups to your repertoire, then get your paws on this CAULIFLOWER SOUP! Don’t underestimate the burst of flavour provided by a sprinkling of paprika! Or if you’re looking to boost your greens intake have a crack at this WINTER GREENS SOUPS.

PIES

Winter months often make us crave comfort foods. These stodgy foods aren’t great for our energy levels though, and often they make us feel a little timid about stepping out in the spring. Never fear, this CURRIED VEGETABLE PIE satisfies all the right cravings and is packed with curry spice and root vegetables. Whilst you’re at it, keep the oven cranking and bang on this VEGETARIAN COTTAGE PIE – great for midweek dinners.

TREATS

If you’re looking for a little treat that reflects those wintery feels, look no further than a STICKY DATE PUDDING.  This recipe has won a few hearts, and stomachs…over to you now to do the same this weekend!

And when you get asked to bring dessert for the next family get-together, try this HEALTHY PUMPKIN PIE – it sure is a winner! If you’ve never tried pumpkin pie, wow you’re in for a treat (pun intended!).

Finally, for those looking to curl up on the couch around a fireplace with their loved ones, hot water bottle or fur friend, then swap those sugary ho-cho’s you get at the supermarket with this smooth and delicious ALMOND MILK HOT CHOCOLATE.

Time to tuck in – over to you!
