How to create the best healthy nut butter ice cream

This nut butter ice cream is a wicked snack / nourishing treat for everyone but LOVE this one in particular for kids because it gives them the sweet without refined sugars. The addition of tahini and nut butters adds valuable sources of calcium, iron, essential fats and protein.

A few quick tips on making gelato consistency nice cream:

+ Get a small amount of liquid into the blender first, this give the blade something to work with rather than trying to cut through dense fruit alone

+ Use CHOPPED fruit not whole pieces so either chop your banana before freezing or chop after it’s frozen and before you pop in blender

+ Serve in a wooden, coconut or bamboo bowl for best result – glass and ceramic tend to make it melt faster

+ Try not to use ice, the water melts and makes the consistency watery too – ice best for smoothies, not thicker smoothie bowl or ice cream blends

TO MAKE OUR NUT BUTTER NICE CREAM: We blend about 1/4-1/3 cup DF milk but you can use what you like, with 3 chopped chopped frozen bananas and a tablespoon each of almond, peanut butter and tahini. Plus dash of vanilla and cinnamon if you like a bit extra!
