Allow me to (re)introduce myself…

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these so friends allow me to (re)introduce myself.
+ I’m Jacqueline Alwill – best known as Jacq, and I’m an accredited nutritionist also the foodie/gal/creator/director etc etc behind Brown Paper Nutrition.
+ It’s called ‘brown paper’ because I have always cooked and shared food with friends/clients/neighbours/people in need and wrapped it up in a brown paper bag. When I started I didn’t really intend for the name to stick (lesson learned ha!) but well here we are 8 years on and….!!!!!!
+ I have 2 kids which you’ll probably see a bit of on the page – Jet and Elke, a beautiful partner, Al / aka Svenno and a dog – Axel the staffy – famous for his semi trailer on legs like greetings and tail whip – the excitement is REAL.
+ Finding creative ways to educate people in this space of nutrition is my jam… workshops, books, blogs, TV, mags, videos you name it, I bloody love it. I don’t struggle to feel inspired with work because I do love it SO MUCH and my passion is always bubbling away.
+ I actually struggle to sit still, it’s a practice I have to practise. It’s not an anxious thing (although I have had my own battle with anxiety in the past), I just like pottering about. Learning restorative yoga and meditation has helped me immensely with understanding how and when it’s my time to rest and in a society where everyone loves ‘busy’ I know it’s a-ok to rest.
+ In the first few years of my business I was driven by perfectionism and my work was indeed beautiful but one day in conversation with one of my mentors, Jody Vassallo, she reminded me that “perfectionism can be a beast” and frankly those words changed me. I don’t strive for perfection anymore, I strive to do my best and love what I do, whatever that is, and life is so much easier and graceful because of it.
+ Right now I have my hands in my own business, and a few others, I’ll tell you more about those as we go – they’re all in nutrition/health/food and some haven’t quite launched but I cannot FREAKING WAIT for when they do!
+ Time outdoors in nature – mostly at the beach but also doing beautiful hikes (pre bubba) fills my cup. I dream of living on a beautiful sustainable farm growing hundreds of different fruit/vegetable varieties nestled just near the ocean so I could jump in the water everyday and with accomodation to run retreats there too. I’d have my clever sisters design it all with me – family is everything to me.
