Post partum exercise and mental health

Getting my exercise groove back. 😊Obviously plenty of physical benefits but for me these days, movement is most important for my mental health. I am literally a new human once I’ve done some thing with my body, the endorphin high is realllll!!!!! After I had Jet I exercised too soon and paid the price for it with injury, this time around with Elke I have been super patient and considered in my approach and with the approval of my Physio @bondi_health moved into different types of exercise as my body healed and became stronger. Initially just walks @redsbabyaus and getting out for fresh air, then adding in glute activation, TA and pelvic floor work, then adjusted body weight sessions with @jerone_fleming / @beyond28days , some spin with a bike I rented for home from @viciouscycle_ , fitting in flow from @the_collaborative_maroubra online (even just 10 minutes here and there) and finally in the past 2 weeks I’ve had a few jogs too. Gah the feeling of runninggggg AMAZING!!!! 🏃‍♀️ I love the mental and physical freedom you feel!!!! My lesson with injury and healing after birth is really about patience and being incredibly in tune with your body. Don’t push too hard too soon. My pram walks weren’t long at first, over the weeks they extended. My reps weren’t high with my body weight exercise they were focused on how I could/ can effectively activate the muscles the exercise is targeting. And my run/jogs are slow and focused on cadence, posture and my breath. This is very different to the me that used to smash it EVERY SINGLE SESSION. There‘s so much more to it than just “getting it done” or smashing yourself , you can gain insane mental strength and clarity with exercise… truly. I am so grateful for what my body does for me and it’s phenomenal after what it’s been through with birth (FML let’s not describe that marathon tonight eh???) that it continues to serve me the way it does. Tell me friends what do you love most about exercise and are you trying anything different to your norm right now? I would love to hear!!! 😎 📸 by my man @svendsenfitnesshealth wearing my easy feeding jumper (just zips for easy access by bubba!) by @hellomonday_active
