Starting solids with miss Elke
Elke looks like her dadda, but she smashes veggies like her mumma 💪🏻 We started Elke on solids about 2 weeks ago and so far so good! She had avocado to kick things off (her favourite to date 🤤), sweet potato, carrot (mums fave!), broccoli, potato, peas, spinach, quinoa and just a little apple and pear as we don’t want too many fruity sweet flavours too soon or her little palate might like them so much and refuse the savoury numbers. Babies and young kids with new foods can be a challenge I completely acknowledge this, some will love and some will throw it back in your face. They’re all vastly different! However one thing @wholefoodhealing and I always reinforce in our Starting Solids workshops is to keep exposing kids to new foods and show them even just a little each time of the food they may not like for now. You don’t know when they might decide to try it and not hate it but you won’t know unless it’s there for them to do so! Even just a teaspoon of broccoli purée (or whatever they don’t like) or a floret in front of your toddler repeatedly is a fantastic way to go about it. Elke’s having her solids but I’ve also popped some very cute fruit and veggie teether toys in front of her for the same reason 😉 It all helps!!! #teachthemyoung 👶 I am making all the purées atm, I freeze some in smaller portions and then some are ready in the little glass jars in the fridge ready to go. She makes nom nom nom noises when she eats too – it’s the best 🥰 The jars are from @kilner_au and the teether fruit and veggies from @urbanbabyshop … time to get messy!!!!
